jump rope for heart

Sophia Western - 1800 - jumping rope in a loose frock, worn at a time when hoop skirts were the fashion~
Jumping rope is a great way to stay in shape as well as making one feel young at heart.
Last week at my daughter's elementary, they had the annual "Jump Rope for Heart" event. All the grades are assigned a time slot of one hour to jump.  Prior to this special event, they work to raise awareness of supporting the American Heart Association and call upon friends and family to contribute a worthy cause.
Music is pumping and the kids are jumping!
T-shirts are decorated by the children which creates excitement to prepare for this day full of heart.
Girls and boys get in the swing of it.

Some watch, while others jump.  Jumping and pumping for a good cause full of heart.
Will you be supporting a heart-worthy cause this week for Valentine's day?
Support The American Heart Association, or donate blood for someone you love.

I love the kids in the photos smiling as they jump for a great cause. This is a great idea to make a donation for "in love of" this Valentine's Day. You just gave me an idea! Enjoy your day! xoxo

Joyce,
Even when times are a little tough, it is so important that we associate ourselves to giving back - right and go forth with an "attitude of gratitude."
Have a great week.

I think it's great that our young get involved with community service. Starting young will hopefully lead to a lifelong commitment. These young ladies are, just as I thought- lovely!

Debra-
Yes, I hope is starting early that these students see how they can make a difference, not only in their hearts but other hearts too.
As always, thanks for your kind comments.

What a great idea for a valentines gift! I love that they did a jump rope for your heart that is not easy to jump rope for an hour or even five minutes. Way to go girls!

These kids are great to start giving at a young age. Do you remember how much fun it was to jump rope, hula hoop, and swing?!
Doing it for a cause is the best!!

Those days are great for adults and kids...and as a kid I liked being anywhere with my mom...she worked away from home full time, and missed many moments.

I consider people like you do-ers :) The do-ers are people who make a difference in all our lives.

Thanks

Great event and fun photos! Brilliant to tie the event to valentine's day. Abbott's school does a Hop for Humanity - a jump roping fundraiser to raise money for needy families in our community.

How fun. I used to LOVE to jump rope, but I know better now. It was the same with roller skating. I had to accept the fact that a fall now means a bum knee, not just a bruise anymore. Sigh.

thanks for the help with the portrait.. that is a good point. i think i needed to start this painting in oil rather than acrylic. that would help me push/pull the paint more and it would give me more time than the 10minutes allowed with acrylic paints.

Jumping rope for heart and for so much fun- if it could all be that easy! and I adore the antique print.

fantastic take on 'heart-worthy' valentines plans. love the carefree photos. dance-a-thons with kids are equally sweet (and hilarious).

YAY!!! Excellent message. I'm totally in love with embracing your heart (and maybe giving a little, too) this Valentine's day. I volunteer for a non-prof, and you're so right...when times are tough, it's more important than ever to give back. Thanks for this post!
