my youngest client "Harrison" bound and born to thrill
There is nothing more thrilling than that of having a baby. I remember when I moved to New York and was deeply ensconced in the career path and had what I call my baby blinders on. My father-in-law would peruse the situation, and request that his stature be elevated to that of Grandfather, and soon. For the longest time I know it was a love-hate relationship as I would walk right by babies to avoid the issue and then stalk aisles of upscale nurseries on Madison Avenue. Then I began to be showered with baby shower invites.

There was something about the games, and all the tiny trappings that would fill a New York City apartment to the rafters that scared me as well as thrilled me. The stroller tucked in the foyer, the moses basket next to the bed, the smell of baby powder and those tiny little toes to adorn with wee little socks and "onesies" that swiftly rocked me in to deciding that a baby was bound to be a "born to thrill."
A pram for the ride of life, first wheels for a blissful ride

It seems like yesterday when I was showered with gifts galore for not one but "two" as I was doubly blessed with twins.

Bringing home my babies was a thrill, the sleepless nights, the eternal drivel, the mounds of laundry and the fact that I adored the little man who delivered the fresh stack of cloth diapers and transported the soiled ones far away. Yes, I was convinced that cloth diapers would be the best for my little bottoms of my heart and that only disposable diapers would be reserved for outings. I think I was ahead of my time on being "green."

I just love the white frames, don't you?
Now those same little boys that were born to thrill, shall soon be giving me a new kind of thrill which is driving as this month they celebrate their 16th birthday. When I asked if they wanted a party, they said, "C'mon Mom, you know, we are "thrill seekers"-what we want, are our own wheels. This Mom thinks that remote control cars will be just the sort of ride to thrill me up.
Note- Thanks to Emily for graciously allowing me to share the above art and photos of babymother Bonnie and baby Harrison.

Don't you love babies? you must love when you are asked to do any work that would be inspired by them!
I have had five and my fifth had a twin that I miscarried, I often wonder how it would have been...
I am guessing, hectic AND winderful!
Have a nice weekend, suppose to warm up :)
Patricia~ There drawings are darling. Little Mr. Harrison is so sweet all curled up with Mommy.
And a lucky fellow to have two original PVE's- surely he will grow up to appreciate fine art.
The day my son got his license changed my world. Not all for the bad- he was able to help with errands and get himself to and from- which made my life a little easier. But the concern will never go away. I still say-"drive carefully" everytime we talk.
Excuse typo...
Harrison is a beautiful baby!
I too love the thrill of a new baby!
I'll never forget my first nephew birth racing home from work (O'Hare) to Kenosha, WI only to get a speedy ticket. I explained to the officer my sister was having a baby, my first nephew. His respond "your sister is having the baby, you are getting a ticket"!
With my youngest niece I was invited into the delievery room and there isn't enough room here to share the beautiful miracle. It truly was amazing...
I so... love the illustration of the woman in the shower!!
Have a golden weekend my friend! xoxo
What a thrilling post. I don't look forward to your thrill ride ahead. Live the sweet artwork though.
Patricia- Oh I too like the idea of the remote cars. A cute gift indeed. I'm sure the excitment has it's fears mixed in with the joy of going into another chapter. xoxo
what loveliness!!!!! Great job on the artwork! xoh
Harrison is a cutie - brings back fond memories. My son turns 15 at the end of the month - I have a year yet for the big driver's license event! Love the illusrations. Also - just posted about my kitchen floor - would love your insights. Michele
Oh no! Time for their own cars already!!!! I never had my own car and had to borrow my parents cars when they were free -it was the bain of my teenage years! lol Now I don't even own a car and I LOVE IT.
Loved your little write up on all the best :-)
Patricia.... Beautiful! I love the pram... my little one recently had some time of his own in one. :) Precious words to accompany such beautiful work! Thanks for always sharing your God-given talent with us... it is always a feast for my eyes!
Sweetest post of the week!!! That little mouth in the first picture is enough to make my heart skip a beat.
Your pictures.....oh where were you when I did our sweet babys' nurseries? That carriage with twinkles above it, divine.
You are so gifted.
The work is JUST so gorgeous...oh, remind me to put you in touch with someone I just met that could be a nice connection for you...makes me fondly remember my two as really wee (even though they still seem wee to the outside world).
My little girl is blessed to have a little bit o'PVE in her room, and I know it will grow with her beautifully.
what delicate pieces. Perfect for a nursery. They look marvelous!
Awww, he is so cute!! Love the artwork you did for them, and I LOVE his name- what a fab choice!!

Beautiful artwork for a beautiful baby....a perfect fit.
These are breathtakingly lovely - your baby son, the artwork...nearly makes me want another baby!
Have a wonderful weekend. Have you seen Ronda's post about you today?
Lecia,
The baby is that of Bonnie who is pictured, not me.
Just wanted to set the record straight.

How wonderful! I love your post, and love to see the picture of my baby boy up there. Harrison looks up at his artwork while on his changing table all the time. It's as if he is studying it. A sincere thanks to you for your beautiful artwork and to my sister for introducing me to it! My sister has an eye for beauty and all things original.
I love the illustration of the mama to be in the shower! It was great reading your memories of showers past and I had to laugh about the remote control cars - hehe!
My parents bought me a 1977 turquoise-blue Volvo when I finally got my lisence (at the ripe old age of 17). It had brown-striped seats, no heater, no a/c, and couldn't go over 45 mph. That baby was definitely not born to thrill.
I didn't know that you were the Mother of twins. Lucky you. Your drawings are delightful. Particularily like the pregnant Mom in the shower.
Patricia,
What a wonderful way to enter the weekend!!! Bonnie and I LOVE your post - what a treat and great memory for years to come! Her Harrison is precious. Thank you for your positive and creative commentary and art. It's something I look forward to daily. Good luck with the coming birthday of your two "babies!"
Oh, how I remember those days. It all looks easier in retrospect.
Love the visual pun on shower!
reminds me of tina fey and baby mama!
So cute, Paticia. Your feature on Ronda's, All the Best was very fine.
Strap in! You're gonna be in for a ride teachin' those boys to drive!! Love your artwork...
Happy Weekend!
I just love these, they are too cute!
You are making me want to have my own babies!! shhhhh. haha. I definitely still have those baby blinders on!!! But I am 30 so I need to start thinking. These illustrations are so cute.
