Mister Rodgers sporting a zip front cardigan "In the neighborhood."
I am in the neighborhood for a zip front sweater to keep me cozy. Something about a sweater with a zipper reminds me of Mister Rodgers. Thrift shops here I come. What are you in the neighborhood for these days, boys and girls?
it's kinda boring, but lately, it's been thermal shirts ;-)
ReplyDeleteheidi-
ReplyDeleteI decided to nix the one I found and am on the hunt for a vintage zip front one. Temp is to drop so thermals sound cozy.

I'm always in the neighborhood for that perfect white shirt. I must have more than a dozen. It's the one thing I feel most comfortable in. But... this time of year I always need to layer them with a heavy bulky sweater. Baby it's cold out there!
ReplyDeleteDebra,
ReplyDeleteYes to a white shirt all year. Frames the face and feels like clean sheets on a beautifully made bed.
Cover it with a cashmere sweater and voila.

I love Mr. Rodgers. I'm on the lookout for a longer length turtleneck. All of mine have shrunk a bit.
ReplyDeleteI love mr. rogers! He was actually a family friend and I brought him to my 1st grade show and tell (that made me quite popular!). I have a picture of him signed on a shelf in my bathroom with all my family photos -he was a very special man.
ReplyDeleteHis mother made all of those sweaters for him! I have a thing for sweaters myself and I think I have about 10 zip up cardigans -the mr. rogers influence on me I suppose!
Stefan-
ReplyDeleteOh my - the things we find out in the blog world!
I would love to see a photo of the two of you!
I just found an old zip front sweater, a leather front, knit sleeves and back which will be great for this week as temps dip.

Turtlenecks, turtlenecks, turtlenecks!
ReplyDeleteI wear too many turtlenecks, sometimes I feel like Diane Keaton. I'm on the look-out for simple dresses that I can wear when I can't think of what to wear.
ReplyDeleteOh, I acually have a zip front sweater, it is cobalt blue. Maybe I'll wear it today in honor of Mr. Rogers! Stefan I can't believe it, you knew Mr. Rogers! Yes, we need some images of you in those zip cardigans.
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention I too love white shirts, more in spring and summer here in KC. In the winter I like to layer sweaters.
ReplyDeleteSome new cardigan sets. A moth got to my cashmere.
ReplyDeleteI've been sporting sweater dresses over skinny pants. Love hiding the hips... especially after Christmas. :)
ReplyDeleteCashmere anything!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking for a vintage cookie press & filing cabinet.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your searching!!
Hmmm, not really looking for anything particular right now, although I do like cardigans. However, I LOVE Mr. Rogers and was so sad when he died. He had a very special quality to him and I owe my love of piano jazz and the vibes to this multi-talented man. On a trivial note, my cousin used to date "Mr. McPheeley"(Speedy Delivery guy's) son.
ReplyDeleteOhhh... I loved watching Mr. Rogers. I hope you find the perfect sweater. We are getting more snow here. Does it mean in a couple of days it will travel your way? The bitter cold is coming tonight too!! burrr....
ReplyDeletePatricia
ReplyDeleteundies! January is get everyone in the house new whities! I don;t know why but I got some today---TMI?? Haha! Tara
I have a signed picture of Mr. R, too - framed and on my bookshelf (quite the conversation piece). But I did not bring him to show and tell. :-) Love that.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the market for a new coat. Mine's a bit shabby. Went to Macy*s one day sale; almost had panic attack (well...I'm exaggerating. But only slightly. So. Many. Scary. People.)
I am all about a soft scarf to keep around my neck, at all times, in this Chicagoland weather!!! Late post contribution, but had to voice my need for scarfs (indoors and out!).
ReplyDeleteI got my wished for Christmas wellies, so I'm good!
ReplyDeletecashmere, definitely. fantastic finds right now too! stefan's comment is so sweet. how i wish i had known mr. rogers.
ReplyDeleteyour post below on 'lemondrops' just had me sobbing. truly tragic and unexpected in our rather delightful blogging world. thank you for sharing the story. it offers enormous perspective.
I love wide-wale corduroy shirts over thin cotton flannel ones. So cozy and warm. I have one that is sage green and another that is dark slate grey.
ReplyDeleteSo far,
ReplyDeleteWhite shirts,
T-necks
Cozy Shirts
Scarves
Wellies (check)
are in the neighborhood...

I really like the half zip sweaters (or a good shawl collar with a leather wrapped button.) Maybe in robin's egg blue.
ReplyDeleteMrs. E. is wearing an outstanding cashmere cable knit with a v-neck and a stand up collar today. That, too, frames a neck and face beautifully.
See if you can find a vintage ski sweater. Deliciously warm and great designs!
I'm boring as well, I'm looking for some new work pants- lame I know, but totally needed :)
