On the wall of Visual Vamp, artwork by pve design
The above image is from Visual Vamp, see my "gift of art" hanging above the etagere.
Take a look at her post today and see more delightful photos of her stylish home.
Inherited Art collection of pve design
On my wall are several small works of "inherited art." The two above works, top - the hay stacks, bottom- the snow scene, were painted by my husbands Grandfather when he was a young boy of twelve. The orchid was given to me, (a secret) it is actually not real, although I love "real flowers" in this case I love the fact that this one is low maintenance.
All comments will be entered up until midnight Sunday. Winner shall be posted on Monday.
Your work is beautiful! A gift of art to me would mean a drawing of my home, to which I have recently added some "long dreamed of" architectural changes.
ReplyDeleteThose paintings- what a treasure Patricia. I'm sure they are very dear toyou and your family.
ReplyDeleteIf I could have a little drawing from you- it would be of a few friends, just sitting, chatting maybe a little wine...books in the background...
I'm thinking all things warm right now- as it is 17 below zero here this morning...
Kim,
ReplyDeleteEach of us have dreams of architectural changes!
The most important part of a home is the soul that provides a place of comfort.

Debra,
I can see it now, a chic affair, friends gathered, sharing wine and life. 17 below...hibernate like a bear, but I suppose, you are equipped for these types of temps. Stay warm.

Your work is sooo beautiful. Whimsical with such a light, open feel. It's like fresh air! I would love a drawing of a pretty, lavish floral arrangement. Just the thing to brighten a this cold, gray, long winter!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed seeing your treasued paintings. If I am dreaming of a drawing from you it would be of the historic home we will be married in this year.
ReplyDeleteI love anything you do, but especially love your fashion illustrations! You have a real gift :-) Remember the 'gibson girl' drawings? I wish we had a similar glamour today in fashion magazines!
ReplyDeleteWhat a generous giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWow great giveawy. I would like any of your work on my wall. I like beach scenes and mountain scenes but anything wouldbe great.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet are you? (As if we didn't already know!)
ReplyDeleteI love a drawing of a fabulous woman walking on the Brooklyn Bridge strolling. Or maybe a drawing of Grand Army Plaza. Oh, too many things you can do!
Your work is so lovely - bright and spirited. If I could have a drawing of yours it would be of my favorite flower, birds of paradise!
ReplyDeleteYour work is simply beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI would love a city scene. People walking, tall buildings, etc. I love them!
Patricia- your little creation looks like it found a perfect place in a very beautiful home.
ReplyDeleteOh dear now to answer your question. Everything you paint is beautiful and from the heart.
I would say a drawing of our pup, Kelly. I know it would add a smile to my husband too. Kelly has brought us so much love, happiness and laughter. Also knowing a special friend created the art would be a double bonus.
Have a golden day! Hugs...
You are perhaps the most generous person I know Patricia. If I could have a work of art from you...perhaps a drawing of our house? Or the boys? I've loved everything I've seen of yours so I suppose I would rather be surprised.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
i love scenes of the ocean, especially by Winslow Homer and Turner but out here on the Vineyard Ray Ellis is all the rage!
ReplyDeleteI had to get in on the fun. I loved your skating image the other day, but I think the most meaningful gift of art I could ask for would be something with my children in it.
ReplyDeletePatricia, What a lovely gesture of kindness. I would love any work created by you. But i think what i would love most of all would be an illustration of the exterior of my home with PVE enhancements. You always make reality look so much better. Now i am going to keep my fingers crossed that i win...
ReplyDeleteI've been looking through you're work. Oh, the talent you have been blessed with.
ReplyDeleteI'd love something depicting the four seasons, each including my medically fragile son with special needs. And our family motto, "believe" incorporated within.
That would indeed be such a treasure.
I am such a true fan of your work, everything is so beautiful and has such a light & grace to it! i would love just about anything, my hubbie and i are hunting for our first home and it would proudly hang on the wall there when we move in! we were married by the water in rhode island, so something nautical or even ocean related would be a dream! thank you!
ReplyDeleteI agree wth Debra, what a wonderful inheritance to have those paintings from your husband's grandfather! They are lovely - hope you have a great wknd. Patricia!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great offer. Also love the wood on your walls.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I love these inherited images :)
ReplyDeleteI hope it's me - I hope it's me!! I'm such a huge fan!
ReplyDeleteWow, looks gorgeous!!!!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to reading your blog every day I get such inspiration, I just ordered the book WRITE IT DOWN on your recommendation. But most of all I love your artwork. I would love to be one of the lucky ones. jfu
ReplyDeleteWhat a great gift! If I won the giveaway, I'd love a little drawing of my son and I watching a submarine making it's way down the Thames River (in CT, lol!) Maybe an American flag flying somewhere in there.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy weekend, Patricia!
Mrs. PvE, I have lurked for many months, ever since Design Mom posted the charming drawing you created for her. I've dreamt of being able to commission you for a work, but believed it to always be out of reach. But since you wrote about the powerful gift art can be, I wanted to tell you about the work I've always wanted to ask you to create.
ReplyDeleteMy roommate from the year I spent in graduate school is one of six children in an absolutely amazing family. They radiate happiness & warmth, living with complete joy & welcoming any who may cross their threshold. They also have a small one room cottage adjacent to their house that they make available to friends, family, and strangers passing through town. I've been so blessed to be able to use that cottage -- first as the place my husband and his parents stayed the night before our marriage, a year later as a soon-to-be mother, & now as a tiny home when I bring my three children Stateside to visit relatives.
My most recent visit at the cottage was last August, as I prepared to move to England. Walking up the stone path, remembering happy times from my single days, and joyful times sharing my small family with them, I wished to be able to present them with a way to show them all the love that shines from their lives.
So, perhaps someday, I will return to the cottage with one of your works carefully wrapped. Until then, thank you for sharing the gift of your art with the world.
Sincerely,
Starr Turner
Thank you for this opportunity to own a piece of beauty. If I could have one of your drawings, it would be of my home in the summertime...the place we brought our son home to, our first, and hopefully forever, home.
ReplyDeleteThe gift of art is such a gift! I love selecting little pieces of art when I travel to different places- gifts to myself. They are real treasures with memories of where I've been and experiences I've had.
ReplyDeleteIf I were to win the drawing, I would love something with the American flag flying. Thank you for having such a fun contest!
i hope I win! i would love a picture of a fashionable woman sitting in her library reading a book! (maybe even sipping a martini)
ReplyDeletePVE,
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Do you have any idea of how much we all adore your work. What a wonderful giveaway! I'd love to have a beautiful drawing of our old homeplace. I can't visit it as often as I'd like and it would be an absolute joy to see it every day!
As always, thank you for your heartfelt posts. You must be one of the kindest bloggers!

ReplyDeleteI am speechless at all the comments -
"the more love you give away,
the more love you get"
I am feeling the love!
I feel like I am the "golden ticket" inside the chocolate bar....

You're amazing. Anyone who receives anything from you would be lucky. You're so kind to share your own gift as a gift to others.

I had a thought while out running...what I would most like if I win the giveaway is something that commemorates the inauguration. Please disregard my earlier comment! Happy weekend, Patricia!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet sweet giveaway...Your work is divine! I would love a drawing of my home (or somewhere on my property) as it is also the home I grew up in. I don't know if we will live there forever but I would love to have a painting that would keep the home in our family for a lifetime and be passed down. I love the idea of naming family homes as they do in England so I have affectionately named ours McKinscastle which is a combination of family names.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend, dear Patricia!
xx Trina
We just left a home that I loved dearly...we built it and I miss it so.. She was like part of our family as silly as that sounds and that is what I would love to have.
ReplyDeletekim

I think this is wonderful! The outside of my condominium with the wreath on the door, topiary to one side, wrought iron plant holder on the right.
ReplyDeleteDearest Patricia,
ReplyDeleteSince I already have your generous gift of art of which I greatly treasure, I would like to throw my hat into the ring for my friend Julie Neill (The Bayou Contessa) who is a soulful New Orleans gal.
What a nice surpirise to see the photo of my living room for this post! And thanks giving the link to my blog.
You're the best!
You are loved!
xo xo
PS The little paintings in your home are gems.
Patricia,
ReplyDeleteYou are one of the sweetest persons I know. I love that you love to share your wonderful talent of art. Since you are already helping me on my blogger header I don't want to be greedy and add myself to the list, but just to play for fun I would love a picture of a couple on a park bench. My husband loves benches. I think it would be sweet to see a couple holding hands on a bench in a park perhaps or in the middle of a little town. Ok that was just for fun. Don't add me to the give-away.
My grandfather painted throughout his retirement and his paintings are among my most cherished possessions!
ReplyDeleteIf I were to win, I would love a beach. The freezing cold temps here in Boston are making me yearn for Cape Cod summers!
What a wonderful giveaway! I don't know what I would ask for, really. Something colorful, yet serene. A street scene? Hmmm...
ReplyDeleteWhat a generous gift, Patricia. The illustration that you did of our Christmas card this year has become one of my most prized possessions - and it was a thrill to see it posted on your blog. I also don't want to take more than my share, but I love your work!
ReplyDeleteYou are a power of example for me-thank you.
Warmest regards,
Colleen
