I have never been a card player, however one "hole card" that is no longer a secret with me, I would like to share with you. I learned this trick from an incredible teacher that I took art lessons from way back while in High School
here. If we were painting from a photograph, one tool that we learned to use was to simply "hole punch" a card and place it over the color that you were trying to see and "voila" you would somehow have a sort of "gps" to find the color.
Try it and you will readily see the color that you need, a hole-in-one of sorts.

Oh I love that idea. So simple yet I never thought of it. I can't wait to try it.
Love the different backround colors everyday. I love to check up on you in the morning and see the latest color combo!
Thanks Patricia for sharing more about the "hole card" I had some questions but didn't want to ask and sound silly, now I have the answers. I love your hole cards. Do you save all of them?
I remember that trick. So clever. Great picture.
joyce,
I try to save some but I also try really hard at throwing out...

Brilliant! I suspect I'll have a chance to pass this technique on to Abbott before I know it.
What a great trick! Thanks for sharing!!
Just brilliant.
LOVE it! Show us more trix!
I look at your blog nearly everyday, and I really enjoy the sketches and photos you share. Watching the artistic process for other artists is so interesting. Though what I design (jewelry) is a little different, I have a sort of process, but your process gives me new ideas.
Holey Moly, I love your trick! [sorry, couldn't resist]
Good tip! Thanks!
What a brilliant idea!
i love this idea- simple little tricks are my favorite
So I assume it makes it stand out more when you do that? GOOD trick!!
What a great trick! Of course, I can't paint, but I think I could use this for other things as well - it will help me "see" colors better in photographs.
That is so cool! I love that, its so simple, yet I never would have come up with it.
Thanks for posting this!
Thanks for the tip... I've never heard of that... I will DEFINITELY give it a try TONIGHT!
Merci Beaucoup!
