flora & fauna

While on a morning walk, the sweetest deer came so close to me.  Birds were singing brilliantly and leaves fell gently.  Along the way, I gathered some lovely things to bring home for my table.
A basket full of fall goodness or a simple branch with berries to remind us of the bounty of autumn.  Enjoy the weekend and take time to honor the flora & fauna around you, where ever you are.  Love to know what is on your table?

  2. kwana,
thanks dear, truly, that deer was that close and what a gorgeous morning walk - I met an "83" year old woman who had completed her daily 8 mile walk, she was absolutely remarkable.

  5. Thanks for this latest comment and your wonderful deer illustration. I'm out at our farm---and just yesterday, upon my arrival, I had three sightings of a very large doe. They are such beautiful animals.

I think deer hunting season starts here in just a few weeks. That worries me. It's considered impolite around her to hand "Posted, No Hunting" signs. We're going to have to talk to farm neighbors.

  9. Lovely sketch and sweet thoughts. Currently our walks include keeping a sharp eye for moose which are not as sweet as deer. On our walks I am inspired by a lovely ageless woman who takes her daily 6 mile walk with her special walker. Always with a gorgeous smile. On my table is a dahlia from summer I need to cut back and winter over....

  11. What a beautiful story. Right now my table only has pewter candle holders and beeswax candles. Tomorrow we're going to the pumpkin patch - hoping to pick more things to decorate.

BTW thanks for your sweet comment about Abbott's artwork - he was really thrilled. He wrote his own response to the compliments in the comments section.

    Happy weekend!

  15. Joyce,
I sell my illustrations - and many I compile in portfolios, or have cards printed and sell those.
I "see" in drawings.... and often can not get it down fast enough. I try to honor my craft daily.

  18. I love how light and airy this illustration is! You do such a good job capturing fall. I made baked barley (very fall-ish) this weekend, and the recipe will be up on my blog this week.
