This photo is of my father, on his First Communion Day. Today, my dear Dad is celebrating a birthday, 81 years young. In 1945 my father began his business "Paul's Fruit Market" - which still lives on. Many years, my father was up early to go to the market to shop for the freshest fruits and vegetables. My mother and father worked hard to provide for our family. They had taught each of us to build a life simply by being kind, honest, and hard-working. Every day my Dad shows me that it is important to show compassion and fairness to all. More importantly, it has been his display of faith to lead a fine life. Dad, I will honor you and Mom -everyday!
He always tells everyone-"Christmas should be more than once a year."
Find room in your heart for joy everyday!
Have a fine birthday, Dad!
I have been bless to enjoyed the fruits of your father's labor!! Pauls Fruit Market was where we bought our Xmas tree and where we often bought fresh fruits and veggies... how fun that the blogging world brought you to my computer screen! Tell your father happy birthday for me!!!

He sounds absolutely incredible... It is so great how much you appreciate your family. Oh - and I love the picture!
ReplyDeleteUm, adorable. Happy B-day to your dad from us in the blogosphere.
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling picture. I just watched a special on FDR, and your father looks like a young Franklin! I know he will enjoy seeing your special tribute to him.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great picture. Happy Bithday Patrica's Dad!!! Love the website. I will definately order next time I am in need of a fruit basket.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your dear Dad! It's been way too long since I've seen him in person. When you venture back home you must give him a birthday hug for me. Better yet, tell your mom to just give him a kiss today from me. She'll do that won't she? ;-)
ReplyDeleteAdorable!
ReplyDeleteHe sounds like a great guy. My father's birthday was recently too...isn't it something the way that you appreciate them and their quirks and all they have done as you yourself get older and realize wheat jutzpah it took?
ReplyDeleteLove the photo. We have one of my husband's dad in his pram...it's awesome.
I have a photo of my father's father in a very similar outfit for his first communion also, circa 1913. He looks so tarched and serious (which I know was because they had to sit so still to "make a picture" back then). Your post is a lovely tribute to your dad and (like so many of your posts) has inspired me: to tell the world about my dad, who is amazing.
ReplyDeleteSounds like an incredible man! Happy Birthday!

We visited Dad yesterday on his big day and sat with him in the sunshine by the pool after church. Time flies and I can't believe he is 81!
